We get asked a lot to sponsor events or to donate raffle prizes. Rather than giving out raffle prizes, we prefer to allocate more substantial sums to just three or four organisations each year. We choose these in January or February.

For 2018, we are pleased to announce sponsorship of the following organisations or events:

  • Ely Hero Awards

There are so many reasons why we should all be proud to live and work in Ely and the surrounding villages; we have some of the most amazing people who live here, who work here and who make it one of the greatest cities – no wonder Ely gets voted so many times in the top 10 places to live!
Ely Heroes wants to honour those people and celebrate how amazing they truly are, to shine a light on those heroes in our community who are the most compassionate, determined, honourable, kind, supportive, brave – the real unsung heroes of Ely, an inspiration to us all. The awards will highlight and celebrate these individuals within our community.

Ely Gin is proud to sponsor the “Community Champion” category, with the winner to be announced at a very special “Ely Local Hero Award Ceremony” at The Maltings on Monday 25th June 2018.

  • Eboracum BaRocks! Music Youth Development Project

The Eboracum Baroque ensemble are passionate about inspiring the next generation of musicians and launched BaRocks! in December 2015. It is their aim to provide exciting and engaging music/education projects to involve as many children as possible across all age groups and abilities.
Continuing our sponsorship from 2017, Ely Gin is proud to be involved with this project once more. The activities work as both an introduction to early music and an opportunity to experience ensemble music making.

  • MUGSHOT: An exhibition by local artist Oliver Winconek

Painting the least wanted is an exhibition inspired by vintage American Police mugshots from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s that focuses on petty criminals from all walks of life. The artist chose to paint people on the edge of society, those in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Oliver Winconek was born in Bedford in 1982, currently residing in Cambridgeshire he works as a full time portrait and figurative Artist.

Ely Gin is pleased to be part of the exhibition by providing the hospitality for the ‘Meet the Artist’ exhibition closing night.
  • East Cambridgeshire Schools Arts Competition 2018

For the ninth year running Babylon Gallery and Ely-Hereward Rotary, are hosting the annual East Cambridgeshire Art Competition for local students (4-19 years) culminating in an exhibition at Babylon Gallery featuring over 200 art works by local children.
Ely Gin contributes annually towards the costs of putting on the event at Babylon Gallery.
More can be found here: www.babylonarts.org.uk.
  • British Heart Foundation

British Heart Foundation is a charity fighting to end heart disease. They are the biggest independent funder of cardiovascular research in the UK. It is a major funder and authority in cardiovascular research, education, and care, and relies predominantly on voluntary donations to meet its aims. In order to increase income and maximise the impact of its work, it also works with other organisations to combat premature death and disability from cardiovascular disease.
As this charity is close to our own hearts due to family members struggling with heart disease, Ely Gin supports the annual BHF Ely Branch fundraising activities by donating towards their Valentine love ‘Heart Project’.

If you are involved in an organisation that you would like considered for sponsorship in 2019, please get in contact around the end of 2018. We do not normally contribute to general funding; we prefer to have a specific project that we can put our name to or get involved with. Try us! It might be you listed here next year.
